We are ecstatic and pleased to offer our version of the Sorbothane Kendo Bogu.
For those that are not familiar with Sorbothane, it is a synthetic visco-elastic urethane polymer used as a shock absorber and vibration dampener. The energy dissipating properties of Sorbothane are unmatched when compared to any other synthetic rubber or polymer.
Sorbothane combines some of the properties of rubber, silicone and other elastic polymers and can be used in applications such as shoe insoles,sporting equipment, computer parts vibration dampening, and acoustic insulation. NASA has even used Sorbothane for the isolation mounts on the shuttle cameras.
What does all of this mean and how will this perform in a Kendo Bogu you ask?
Aside from the superior shock and vibration dampening, the sorbothane, in the Men and Kote’s will keep working to absorb the energy from shinai hits as it has great memory (millions of cycles) So it will not degrade its absorption rate over the lifespan of the bogu.
